About Us

Tangle Free
Missoula, Montana, United States
Tangle Free is a recently formed volunteer organization who removes or repairs problem fences on public lands. Since our formation in early 2010 we have had three solo projects in which we have removed over 46,000 feet of problem barbed-wire fence, which when recycled, weighed over 1500 pounds. Some of the wire from our North Hills Pull will be used to create peace signs to commemorate the removal of barbed-wire from the Jeanette Rankin Peace Park. We have also assisted the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the National Wildlife Federation on volunteer projects. Currently all of our expenses are out of pocket and we rely on loaned tools and safety glasses for our projects. We are actively planning fence removals with the Bureau of Land Management and the US Forest Service for the fall of 2011.
